I’ve always wondered how two incredibly compatible people happen to find each
other. There are 7 seven billion people on Earth, and nearly half of them are in the United
States alone. However, somehow, while all these people were roaming around, Matthew
and Sierra found one another. How did they do it? Some may call it fate, others refer to it as
destiny. But, for the sake of this story, we’ll just call it a SETUP.
On a warm summer evening in 2018, Sierra was home visiting from anesthesia
school for a graduation. She was enjoying her family when she got a call from her friend
and colleague stating that she had found Sierra’s perfect match. Reluctant yet curious,
Sierra inquired more about this mysterious gentleman. After a brief conversation, Kerrari
asked if she could bring Matt to Sierra’s location to introduce him in person. While Sierra
hesitantly agreed, Matthew was in for a surprise of his own.
Sierra was at a local restaurant where half of her family was gathered for a
graduation dinner. What a first date, right? Well, it gets better! Matthew arrived and
Kerrari introduced him to not only Sierra but everyone on her mother’s side of the family
as “Sierra’s future husband”. After the shock subsided, Sierra asked Kerrari if she could
keep him for the remainder of the evening; Matthew obliged! As if it wasn’t intense enough
meeting her mother’s side of the family, Sierra’s next stop was a family gathering with her
father’s side of the family. Who else can say that they met their wife’s entire family on the
same day that they met her?
That built an unshakeable foundation for the two, and they built upon it every day. If
you were to ask Sierra what she thought of her perfect match, she would say that Matt was
“the best package to ever be delivered”! After three years of dating, Sierra planned an
amazing surprise trip to Hawaii to celebrate Matt’s birthday. However, Matt had a surprise
for Sierra as well. Matthew was convinced that Sierra was his person, and he arranged a
beautiful proposal in Hawaii.
While we may never truly know how two people that are perfect for each other ever
find one another, we are fortunate enough to bear witness to one of the greatest love
stories yet to be told. A story of hope, restoration, and faith. May the love that they have
found ignite love and joy to all that are privileged to witness it.
